Description

Delhi International Christian Fellowship is seeking a Senior Pastor to lead our Christian foreigner community in New Delhi, India.

DICF is an English speaking, interdenominational church of around 175 adults and 40 children from about 25 different countries.  Our congregation is made up of diplomats from several embassies, business leaders, international school teachers, professionals in a wide range of occupations and international graduate students here in India for advanced degrees.

Life for a foreigner in New Delhi is often hectic and demanding.  Traffic, working hours, significant responsibilities, and travel demands can take a toll on one’s peace, calm, and often on one’s relationships.  DICF provides a calm, welcoming, and secure community where we can relax, find friends who understand, be supported in our spiritual lives, and be led in familiar Christian worship.

Members of our community are often assigned here for two or three years before being posted in another region of the world.  We have an opportunity to touch more lives as our people move on to bless another community and extend the Kingdom.

Over this past year our church leadership board has had members from Australia  |  Canada  |  D.R. Congo  |  Germany  |  Great Britain  |  Japan  |  Netherlands  |  Nigeria  |  South Africa  |  the United States.

Skills

The pastor’s primary task is to love people from all over the world through his life, preaching, hospitality, and administration.  The accomplishing of this task will bring people together around the person and work of Jesus Christ.  We are looking for a spiritual director/leader who is maturely at peace and content in his spiritual life, in his family life, and in his relationships, both personally and professionally.

Quality preaching to a broad-spectrum congregation of well-educated, experienced, and highly competent people is a high priority.

With the Indian Government laws against the proselytizing and evangelization of Indian nationals and Indian visa requirements, our pastor’s ministry is focused exclusively on the expatriate international community.

Degree from an accredited theological seminary.

Minimum of 10 years of lead pastoral experience.

Responsibilities

Pastoral work

Teach and Preach the Bible as the Word of God.

Love people, not ones expectations of them.

Qualities:

  • A joyful, flexible, loving, and content person.
  • So in love with Jesus Christ that his ministry is infectious and positively influences people.
  • Love the congregation of very diverse people.
  • Quality preacher.
  • Creator of personal networks and connections.
  • Exclusively focused on expatriates.
  • Patient in accepting many divergent views of Christian faith while remaining true to our Statement of Beliefs and the Bible as the Word of God.
  • Non-denominational in acceptance and perspective.

The pastor’s primary task is to love people from all over the world.  All of his life, preaching, administration, and hospitality are to be focused on bringing people together around the person and work of Jesus Christ.

Our pastor can thrive on the freedom of our diverse non-denominational congregation - the freedom to wrestle through the Bible as it applies to a congregation that is not homogeneous, is constantly changing, and will never be completely understood.

This means he must see the gospel through the appropriate cultural, economic, racial, and language filters.  The truth of Christ is in and through all of those life elements but stands triumphantly above them.  And that is where our pastor must be, lead, and preach.

Quality preaching to a broad-spectrum congregation of well-educated, experienced, and highly competent people is a high priority.

Church leadership

Qualities:

  • A joyful, flexible, loving, and content person.
  • Create a celebratory and freeing congregational environment.
  • Work with the church board as a leader of peers.
  • Create and foster community.
  • Accepting of all people.
  • Produce excellence in services, documents, programs, and events in a difficult environment.
  • As the Church leader, the primary work is to create and sustain a peaceful, accepting, secure, and joyful community environment.

Our pastor will foster a Christian community culture that is so accepting, freeing, and joyful that the truth of God’s love and Christ’s offer of forgiveness becomes real enough to draw, both the seeker/outsider and build the committed/insider.  This starts with the Church Board.  We believe our leadership Board is a microcosm of the whole church.  Our life as a church board is one of prayer, acceptance, joyful discussion, and mutual commitment to the best for each other and for our congregation.

Experience Requirements

Minimum of 10 years of lead pastoral experience.

Significant international living/ministry experience.

Only registered members can apply for jobs.
